چکیده

This paper presents pulse-coupled two bifurcating neurons. The single neuron is represented by a spike position map and the coupled neurons can be represented by a composition of the spike position maps. Using the composite map, we can analyze basic bifurcation phenomena and can find some interesting phenomena that are caused by the pulse-coupling and are impossible in the single neuron. Presenting a simple test circuit, typical phenomena are confirmed experimentally. key words: bifurcation, synchronization, chaos, spiking neuron, pulsecoupled neural networks

Non-linear waves in a ring of neurons

In this paper, we study the effect of synaptic delay of signal transmission on the pattern formation and some properties of non-linear waves in a ring of identical neurons. First, linear stability of the model is investigated by analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation. Regarding the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we obtained the spontaneous bifurcation of multiple bra...

Bifurcating neuron: computation and learning

The ability of bifurcating processing units and their networks to rapidly switch between different dynamic modes has been used in recent research efforts to model new computational properties of neural systems. In this spirit, we devise a bifurcating neuron based on control of chaos collapsing to a period-3 orbit in the dynamics of a quadratic logistic map (QLM). Proposed QLM3 neuron is constru...

Numerical Determination of Delamination Onset in Laminated Symmetric DCB Specimen

In this study, a novel numerical method is proposed for determination of mode-I interlaminar fracture toughness, GIc, in multi-directional (MD) double cantilever beam (DCB) specimens using fracture properties of unidirectional DCB specimens. Two factors, β and Dc are defined to minimize the undesirable effects on strain energy release rate. β describes the difference between maximum and average...

Neural Network Sensitivity to Inputs and Weights and its Application to Functional Identification of Robotics Manipulators

Neural networks are applied to the system identification problems using adaptive algorithms for either parameter or functional estimation of dynamic systems. In this paper the neural networks' sensitivity to input values and connections' weights, is studied. The Reduction-Sigmoid-Amplification (RSA) neurons are introduced and four different models of neural network architecture are proposed and...

Rich dynamics of pulse-coupled spiking neurons with a triangular base signal

This paper presents a spiking neuron circuit with a triangular base signal. The circuit can output rich pulse-trains and the dynamics can be analyzed using a piecewise linear one-dimensional pulse-position map. Applying cross-switching to two neurons we construct a pulse-coupled system whose dynamics can be integrated into a composite map of the pulse position maps of two neurons. The composite...
